Progress and Current Status

The speaker reports significant progress made over the past three weeks, starting with a foundational document that was socialized and refined with input from both sides. The current situation is described as a "critical moment."

International Collaboration and Objectives

There is close collaboration with the United States, European partners, and "many many others" to define concrete steps aimed at ending Russia's war against Ukraine and establishing "real security." The emphasis is on working with partners, particularly the United States, to find compromises that strengthen Ukraine's position rather than weaken it.

Addressing Aggression

A key argument presented is the danger of ignoring or overlooking aggression. The speaker emphasizes the ongoing need to explain how perilous it is to "pretend that aggression is something one can simply overlook and move on."

Conclusion

The current efforts are focused on leveraging international partnerships to define actionable steps towards ending the conflict and ensuring lasting security for Ukraine. A core principle guiding these negotiations is the necessity of not downplaying or ignoring the act of aggression itself.
