Trần Chí, the founder and chairman of Prince Group in Cambodia, established the conglomerate around 2015. Prince Group operates through dozens of companies across over 30 countries, ostensibly in real estate, finance, and consumer services. However, according to an indictment, Prince Group is accused of being one of Asia's largest transnational criminal organizations.

Modus Operandi: Online Scams and Forced Labor

Prince Group allegedly established scam operations in Cambodia, masquerading as cryptocurrency investment projects. The perpetrators would build trust with victims through social media interactions, then lure them into transferring funds with promises of exorbitant profits. In reality, all stolen money was laundered through a complex network of dozens of subsidiary companies. Victims hailed from numerous countries, with over 250 individuals from the United States affected.

Behind these fraudulent schemes were forced labor camps, characterized by high walls and barbed wire. Hundreds of individuals were compelled to work, facing threats and physical violence if they failed to meet scam targets. Phone farms operated around the clock, making millions of calls daily. Trần Chí is directly implicated in managing these camps and ordering violent punishments.

Money Laundering and Illicit Activities

To conceal their criminal activities, Prince Group allegedly bribed officials and laundered money through its subsidiaries. This was achieved through various channels, including online gambling and cryptocurrency mining. The illicit funds generated from scams were then used to finance lavish lifestyles, including luxury travel, designer shopping, yachts, private jets, villas, and expensive artwork.
