Product Development: The Pie Creature Neck Pillow
The video introduces a new product from the Three Blue and Brown (3B1B) store: a neck pillow designed in the likeness of the channel's iconic "pie creature." The genesis of this product was an offhand remark by a warehouse worker at DFTBA (Don't Forget To Be Awesome), who, while handling a pie creature plushy, jokingly suggested it would make a good airplane pillow. This idea was then developed through several iterations, resulting in a surprisingly comfortable and functional neck pillow.
Design and Functionality
The pie creature neck pillow retains the distinctive features of the original plushy, including its "little arm and eyeballs." A key functional addition is a clip attached to the arm, allowing users to secure the pillow to their bag. This design element is noted to align with the "pondering thinking shape" often depicted for pie creature students in 3B1B videos. The creator expresses amusement at the potential for confusion among those unfamiliar with the 3B1B channel who might see someone traveling with this unique neck pillow.
Target Audience and Application
The product is positioned as an ideal holiday gift for individuals who are fans of the Three Blue and Brown channel and also frequently travel by airplane. The creator highlights the potential for amusement and conversation starter at airports, where the pillow's unusual design might pique the curiosity of onlookers. The product is also suggested for those planning beach-bound vacations.
Availability
The pie creature neck pillow, along with other 3B1B Unbound merchandise, is available for purchase on the official 3B1B store website at 3b1B.co/store.
Synthesis/Conclusion
The Three Blue and Brown store has launched a novel and humorous product: a neck pillow shaped like their signature pie creature. Evolving from a casual suggestion, the product combines the recognizable aesthetic of the 3B1B brand with practical functionality for air travel. The design incorporates a clip for easy attachment to luggage, and its unique appearance is intended to be a source of amusement and a conversation piece for fans, particularly in travel settings. The creator expresses personal delight in the product's development and its potential to bring a smile to fans' faces during their travels.
