Young Blood's Physical Adventure and Retail Strategy
Dominic Harrison, known as Young Blood, aims to provide a "physical adventure" for his 20 million-strong online community. He has launched a gender-neutral fashion brand and opened a physical "bricks and mortar" store in central London. This is in contrast to the trend of retailers moving businesses online.
Rationale for Physical Store
Young Blood believes the internet, while useful for discovering interests, can "dilute your opinion of anything at all." The physical store provides a tangible space for people who have encountered the community online to "try something out." The goal is to find people through the virtual world and bring them into the real one.
Influence of Oussie Osborne
Oussie Osborne was a significant influence on Young Blood. He describes Osborne as "my hero" and "everything I ever wanted to be." The Osborne family has been supportive, and Osborne served as a "blueprint" and "northstar." Young Blood feels fortunate to have "crossed into his orbit in real life in the last weeks of his life."
Conclusion
Young Blood is leveraging his online community to create real-world experiences through a physical retail space and a gender-neutral fashion brand. He emphasizes the importance of tangible connections and the influence of his musical hero, Oussie Osborne.
