Debate with CZ at Blockchain Week Dubai
The speaker announced a challenge issued at Blockchain Week in Dubai, where they will participate in a debate with CZ, the CEO of Binance. CZ is hosting this debate at his conference, scheduled for approximately December 3rd or 4th. The event will be streamed online, allowing those unable to attend in person to watch.
Debate Topic: Bitcoin vs. Tokenized Gold
The central theme of the debate between the speaker and CZ will be "Bitcoin versus tokenized gold." The speaker intends to create and launch a token backed by gold at some point in the future.
Tokenized Gold and Blockchain's Role
The speaker posits that blockchain technology may have revitalized the concept of gold as a medium of exchange by enhancing its efficiency. The core argument is that physical gold does not need to be transferred for it to be used in payments. This is compared to the historical gold standard, where transactions were conducted using paper dollars, which were essentially "IOUs" for gold held in vaults. The speaker suggests that similar functionality can be achieved today with digital tokens that represent tokenized IOUs for gold stored securely in a vault. This eliminates the need for physical gold transfer, making gold more practical for modern payment systems.
