Over 1 ton of cannabis was seized as part of a large-scale, organized transnational drug trafficking ring with direction from outside Vietnamese territory. The suspects transported cannabis from Thailand by road through Cambodia and Laos into Vietnam. In Vietnam, the cannabis was stockpiled in various provinces and cities, including Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Hanoi, and Bac Giang, before being divided and distributed to major warehouses and retail agents. The suspects used Telegram groups to openly advertise and sell cannabis. Communication and coordination primarily occurred online, with messages set to auto-delete upon completion. They used non-registered phone numbers and false names for transactions and when registering with shipping companies. This operation has uncovered the largest quantity of cannabis seized to date.
