Visiting Quảng Ninh: Strengthening Ties with the Working Class

Sáng nay (this morning), Tổng Bí thư Tô Lâm, accompanied by Thủ tướng Phạm Minh Chính, visited the Đèo Nai Cọc Sáu coal company in Quảng Ninh province to extend Tết greetings to the workers. The visit commenced at the national historical site commemorating Bác Hồ’s (President Ho Chi Minh) visit to the Đèo Nai mine on May 30th, 1959. Tổng Bí thư Tô Lâm and the delegation paid tribute, honoring President Ho Chi Minh’s contributions and reaffirming the Party’s commitment to supporting the coal industry workers in upholding their traditions, discipline, and unity to achieve practical successes aligned with Bác Hồ’s guidance.

Quảng Ninh as a Symbol of the Working Class & Đại hội 14 Directives

Following the historical site visit, Tổng Bí thư Tô Lâm toured the Đèo Nai Cọc Sáu coal mine, expressing Tết wishes to the employees. The choice of Quảng Ninh, considered the “cradle of the Vietnamese working class,” as the first destination after the 14th Party Congress, underscores the Party’s deep concern for the working class and its confidence in their pivotal role in national construction and development.

Tổng Bí thư Tô Lâm highlighted the central tenet of the 14th Party Congress: serving the people, prioritizing individuals, and using productivity, quality, and efficiency as benchmarks for progress. Specifically for the working class and the coal mining industry, the focus must be on increasing labor productivity, linking it to income growth, accelerating mechanization and automation, and applying science and technology. This requires transforming the spirit of discipline and unity ("kỷ luật và đồng tâm") into “kỷ luật công nghệ” (technological discipline), “kỷ luật an toàn” (safety discipline), and “kỷ luật lao động” (work discipline). Alongside this, attention must be given to improving living conditions, ensuring absolute labor safety, enhancing skills, building a highly skilled workforce, strengthening the role of Party organizations and trade unions, and actively recruiting Party members from the direct production workforce.

The Party’s Rooted Connection to the Working Class

Tổng Bí thư Tô Lâm emphasized that the visit to the Quảng Ninh coal miners wasn’t merely ceremonial, but stemmed from the inherent nature, origins, and leadership methods of the Vietnamese Communist Party. He stated, “Đảng Cộng sản Việt Nam là Đảng của giai cấp công nhân, là đại biểu cho lợi ích của giai cấp công nhân, nhân dân lao động, và của cả dân tộc.” (The Vietnamese Communist Party is the Party of the working class, representing the interests of the working class, the working people, and the entire nation). The Party’s strength, he asserted, originates from its close relationship with the working class and the people.

He stressed that successful implementation of the resolutions from the 14th Party Congress and the realization of Party policies require starting from practical production, from the workshops, from the mines, and from the daily lives of workers and the people. He recalled historical periods where Party officials immersed themselves in factories, mines, and construction sites, living and working alongside workers – periods he termed “thực tế đỏ” (Red Reality), representing times of genuine connection and understanding. He affirmed that this spirit remains relevant in the current context.

Trust in the Working Class for National Development

In the new stage of national development, the Party places great trust in the working class in general, and the Quảng Ninh coal miners in particular. They are the direct creators of material wealth, playing a crucial role in enhancing labor productivity, ensuring energy security, and promoting rapid and sustainable national development.

Tổng Bí thư Tô Lâm expressed confidence that the coal miners would continue to demonstrate a strong spirit of discipline and unity, translating their glorious traditions into concrete actions in labor production, safety, skill enhancement, and industrial discipline. This, he believes, will contribute to their continued worthiness of the Party’s trust.

Finally, Tổng Bí thư Tô Lâm extended Tết greetings to the workers and their families, wishing them health, happiness, and safe production shifts, and a complete and joyful Tết celebration.
